Why caffeine and L-theanine are often paired
L-theanine is an amino acid naturally found in tea. Researchers have tested it on its own and in combination with caffeine. A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials found small-to-moderate differences favoring the combination for selected measures such as vigilance and attention switching, but confidence intervals often showed uncertainty. The authors called for more research in everyday, free-living settings.
That is the balanced takeaway: the combination is plausible and supported by some human evidence, but it should not be marketed as guaranteed “calm energy,” a crash-proof experience or an all-day result. The research used particular ingredient amounts, preparations and testing conditions that may differ from a commercial strip.
What vitamin B12 does—and what it does not do
Vitamin B12 is essential for healthy blood cells and normal nervous-system function. A deficiency can cause tiredness or weakness, so correcting a deficiency matters. But the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements states that B12 supplements do not improve energy or endurance in people who already get enough B12.
